Why I Stopped Chasing KPIs

I never really liked KPIs. Or metrics. Or dashboards.
The world is changing too fast for that. New needs. New tools. New ways of working.

I prefer a different approach.
Like many athletes do, no comparison intended, but many of them are not obsessing over the scoreboard, instead they are showing up every day. Focusing on the small things. The details. The rhythm.
Consistency over urgency. Tiny improvements instead of chasing big numbers.

It’s the same in the mountains.
Since I was a kid I’ve loved being in mountains - climbing, ski touring, hiking.
And I always loved the journey more than the top

The trip has always mattered more than the summit. The small treasures along the way. There were several times when, after 10–20 hours of climbing, I skipped the summit even though it was just a short walk away. Because I was already satisfied with the experience. The summit wasn’t the important part.

I don’t always have a clear goal, most often, I don’t.
But somehow, the results, or good things, tend to come anyway.

And maybe even more important: I don’t burn out.

Life is better for the ones that enjoy the journey. I guess
